Chennaiites will be transported back in time with melodies of the evergreen band Queen. Thanks to Just For Kicks, many of the numbers that topped the charts in the 70s and still continue to rock pubs, nightclubs and the radio, will be performed live again. You can head bang to Another One Bites The Dust, sing along to Radio Ga Ga or just kick back and enjoy Bohemian Rhapsody, either way this gig will knock you off your feet and leave you begging for more.
The love for classic rock brought them together and hardly ten months and a few days old, Just For Kicks is creating quite a stir in Chennai’s rock scene with their penchant for classic rock covers that seem to go down well with the audience. They began with a tribute to the Eagles, and then went on to do a theme-based concert on Valentine’s Day. Now, it’s time to pay homage to Queen. But, why a tribute to Queen? “Queen is an iconic band that has had an influence on all of us. To this day, we hear their numbers being played in pubs and on the radio — it is truly an evergreen band,” says Sujan Daniel, a vocalist.
The band’s line up includes Sujan Daniel and Richard Nathan on vocals, Shayne Fernandez on keyboards, Tim Elliot and Juda Mario Rogers on guitars, Gerard Joseph on bass guitar and Immanuel Theophles on drums. They may be called Just For Kicks, but these guys are as serious about their music as they are about their careers. While one teaches music, the others are into advertising, marketing and software. So, how do they find time to jam? “We squeeze in time during the weekends. Since we are all passionate about our music, we put aside everything else and get together to jam,” says Gerard.
So, if you want to get a kick out of life, catch up with these guys today, as they promise to give you just that and even more.
